Guess Who is Having a Birthday!

Stash Downsize Project
Originally uploaded by lasassone
Well, here you see what I've been up to lately. This is a folding banquet table that I'm working on in our dining room.I 've only got 3 more color drawers and the metallics to go. You can just see a glimpse of the yellow drawer on the left and the cream and green pile on the right. I had to stand on a high stool and put the camera on the ceiling to take this picture. Got it on the 4th try! LOL Seems like I've been sorting, pressing and cutting for months now, but it's only been about 3 weeks with MANY interruptions.

All this is because space in this tiny house is at a premium and I need the room. In order to make room in these drawers for my "reads-as" color cotton fabrics, I have decided to seriously downsize my fancy fabric stash again. Mind you these fabrics are the ones that I selfishly kept for myself when we were planning on moving to a larger place. So, there's a lot of wonderful things in there and many one-of-a-kind pieces.

Now for the surprise I promised. Today is my birthday (and AllieA's as well)! If you leave a comment on this post until May 5th, I will enter you in a drawing. Remember, you have to leave the comment on THIS message. And I must be able to click on your name and get a link to your email unless you include it in your comment. I'd also like you to tell me your favorite color and why it's your fav maybe. I'm curious!

#1 winner will get a hand picked just-for-you Stash Stretcher packet.
#2 winner will get a combo packet of 10 fabric cuts & embellishments.
#3 winner will get an embellishment package in his or favorite color.

I sell Stash Stretcher packets for $12.50 and that includes first class shipping. Postage for multiple orders varies.

Stash Stretcher packets contain 25 pieces of fancy fabrics cut approximately 6" x 10" because I and my students have found that rectangles work best for cq piecing. Less fabric is wasted and we NEVER want to waste fabric, right?

I also include a surprise in each packet. The surprise could be anything from a little ziplock of beads to trims to mother of pearl buttons.

So! Now I'm done workiing and I will spend the day relaxing, reading & stitching maybe. Perhaps I'll also eat light to prepare myself a bit in for the dinner out G has planned for this evening!

Stitch on!

HI, LouAnne!
What a tremendous amount of work you've done! I've been up to the same antics....gotten rid of tons and still not put a major dent in things! LOL!!! Fav color...green me thinks...for trees, for peace, for forest thick with bird song, for strength and contentment. Next would be coral/salmon! A bright cheerful color that brightens my mood anytime!

Hello, LouAnne,
Happy birthday and many joyous returns of the day to you. I admire your organizational and weeding activity in your stash. We moved two years ago to a much smaller house and I had to do radical surgery on my stash. It is a good thing to do periodically. My favorite color has always been red because it's such a wonderfully bright color and makes one sit up and take notice.

If you are not my niece and I'm pretty sure you aren't that Dana, you need to give me your email address so tht I can put you in the drawing! I'm posting this here and will also try to send an email thru Blogger. If you win anything I would not be able to contact you without your email. LouAnne

Happy Birthday LouAnne, this is my second try at leaving a comment. Not sure what I'm doing wrong but my first one didn't show up. Anyway I don't know how to leave my address for you to click on but I'm just a hop and a skip around the corner from you and that makes it really easy for you to bring my prize to me. lol

Hi LouAnne! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We have all missed you.
Wow how organised you seem lol?
I get out my stash esp beads... by the time i have drooled over it its time to get the dinner ready so nothing gets tidyied up...oh well a tidy house is a sign of a wasted life so they say..I will go along with that!!!
Colours I like h'mmm sunsets/sunrises..but if I were sensible would say creams as I do not have much of this colour.
But...do I want to be sensible?

I've been sorting various boxes since we moved and when my daugher helps, I hear comments like "Another box for crazy quilting?" I think I'll need to move to a smaller house to force me to downsize, but right now it's just so much fun. I need a few years of stitching before I'll think about giving much away. There's just so many stitches to try and beads to use. . .
I'm a cool color person - blue, green, purple. How can you pick just one?

I can certainly relate to the small house. My living room not only functions as a living room and dining room, it has my office space and my needlework space... I envy all who actually have a room to work in.

Enter me, as like Leslie I can always use greens but love red also... olderrose@yahoo.com
Happy birthday

LouAnn, I feel so bad for you that you are destashing these beautiful fabrics. But, as I am a rather new CQ'er I'll accept whatever I get! At the moment teal is my color, but any jewel tone will do.

Happy birthday LouAnne and many more. I am saving Lulu's ginger snap recipe until I get back to Chicago. My oldest son loves anything ginger including gingerbread men while in his forties the first thing he looks for at Christmas.

Have a great day and extra hugs.

Hi LouAnne, and Happy Birthday. Remember that you're not getting older, but better. We've missed you on CQI!! Sorry to hear you're destashing, but I understand; I'm trying to use up and recycle some of mine to others. Having said that, however, who can refuse a new infusion of fabric and variety?!? Like you, I love yellows, but I LOVE greens and pinks. They're all happy, cheerful colors, and green is calming as well. You are very generous! Hugs, Cathy

Hi Louanne!
Happy Birthday! Mine is in two days and I'm excited. Yes even at this age it means a lot to me. You have inspired me. I've been trying to figure out how to fit all my Fancy Fabric into my sewing room. This last week-end, the local Military Post had a Post Wide Garage Sale and I was able to get rid of (Ooops!) Sell the cotton fabrics I decided I no longer needed. But my Fancy Fabrics mean so much more to me. So thanks for the inspiration. I'm a fan of light blue. It reminds me of the sky on a Spring Day after a nice Rain. I can almost smell the rain. Wait-a-minute, that's real, it rained today. Hope you have a wonderful time on your Special Day.

GOD bless you on your Birthday, young LouAnne!! What a joy to read you and know all of the news from Sassone Land. Now, why don't you start a new career, traveling around the U.S. to help the helpless put order back into our lives (oops!). I'd feed ya 'n' everything! +++ I love Periwinkle and Bisque Pink. Am trying to think of a way to get my Charlie to paint the homestead in these soft colors. +++ I wish you dozens more happy years. Sincerely, carole samples / fancwerx@inebraska.com ...

Wishing you a Happy Birtday and an exciting year to come! I heard about your wonderful stash building giveaway on the new Yahoo Group StitchMap for mentors and Stash Angels. Right up our alley! My favorite color is purple just because it is. But I also love blues, deep greens and light pinks. Go figure! I think I am thinking of spring gardens right now. Shari LadyJSpice@aol.com

Oh my gosh! Your table of stash looks like Stash Heaven to me! I'm new to it all - CQ, embroidery, and even sewing. Am putting together my first purple block. I do love purple but any color will do me since I have only two colors in my stash - purple (much depleted now) and red, LOL

Happy Birthday to You, Lulu's Girl!

I heard about you on Yahoo's StitchMAP too. I'm one of the apprentices.

Enjoy your special day!

A very happy birthday. Mine is May 24.
I am a newbie and have previously read your blog which I very much enjoyed. My favorite color keeps changing because they are all so great, but blue wins out over all. It's very nice of you to share your fabrics with us and I will enjoy them if I am fortunate enough to get some.

Hi Louanne, Happy Birthday! I've bought some of your things in the past and you have fabulous stuff. I've been sorting my own stash--I want to keep some of everything yet not so much. It's a real chore so I congratulate you on all that work! Have a great birthday (and a more relaxing one). janehallstrom@gmail.com

Wow you have really been busy girl. I am so envious of your stash though. I am a traditional quilter trying to reduce my cotton fabric stash so I can increase my crazy quilt fabric stash. I would love to win some of your beautiful fabric. I love all colors but, my very, very favorite is blue (especially deep sapphire). Thanks for this opportunity. What a fun thing to do. Sincerely, lee (leespan@mail.com).

Hi LouAnne! Happy Birthday! My favorite color is blue. Blue for the sky, for the ocean deep, for the tiny little flowers in spring, for a child's bright blue eyes. I also like the grey of stones and fields and rainy skies, and the yellow of dafodils and dandelions.
